Өгүүллийн хураангуй: We propose a near real-time tracking mechanism for optical network unit’s (ONU’s) service performance, which can be used to improve passive optical network (PON) efficiency. The proposed mechanism can track the ONU’s service performance through describing the ONU’s buffer occupancy and packet delay using the information such as request message, allocated grant, and start time of each ONU transmission in the previously elapsed scheduling cycles and comparing it with the acceptable conditions required by the user’s quality of service requirement. We evaluated the validation of proposed tracking mechanism by using the computer simulation and a result reflect that it is applicable enough for tracking of the ONU’s service performance behind user’s service condition in real-time manner.
An assumption used in proposed mechanism can follow the ONU’s actual user traffic profile at just after the ONU transmission completion time , so the near real-time tracking for the ONU’s service performance is achieved. The proposed tracking mechanism can also be applicable for downstream transmission if incoming traffic from service node interface (SNI) is queued into separate buffers corresponds to each ONU.
