Mongolia is in the eleventh place in the world by its meat consumption, accounting for meat production and GDP by 14.5% which is also indicating that the meat consumption is influencing the economy.

Less than 10 percent of all meat consumed by consumers are meeting the standard requirements.

In the past 5 years, the supply and demand gap declined but in the second half of 2010, it is likely to rise again due to the “dzud” or the cattle’s famine during the winter time. According to our estimates, meat supply shorting will be around 66 thousand tons per year until  2018.

The meat supply is in short from January to June, with the supply surplus starting from July. In order to fill the months of lack of meat supplies from May to December, there is a need for a cellars that can contain more than 70 thousand tons of frozen meat  in -150C ~ -300C degrees. Currently there are 38 plants with low and medium power capacity for cooling, freezing and storing the raw and inner meat; and that sells their products in domestic and foreign markets with the adequate facilities with a total capacity of 40 thousand tons .
